Tokyo Sky Tree Town Virtual Fireworks Starts on July 16
A Tokyo’s new sightseeing spot Tokyo Sky Tree Town will start virtual fireworks during pandemic on July 16. This is the second year for them to have this event hoping that you will feel the atmosphere and fun of summer in Japan.
Many fireworks festivals have been canceled this year due to the Covid-19 pandemi, and the “Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival” that illuminates the Sumida River every year was one of them. Under such circumstances, Tokyo Sky Tree (R) will display fireworks images at the lighting and observatory. And fireworks images at Sumida Aquarium will show on Japan’s largest indoor open-type penguin pool.
Planetarium Tenku has prepared contents unique to Tokyo Skytree Town, such as “Fireworks Welcome Dome” that projects images of fireworks before the screening of each movie.
History of Sumida River Fireworks
The Sumida River Fireworks Festival has started with the launch of fireworks to pray for the requiescats of those who were victims of the great famine and plague during the Edo period. This event also includes the idea that “the effects of the new coronavirus infection will subside and we can enjoy the fireworks again next year.”
Tokyo Sky Tree Special Lighting “Fireworks”
This is an original lighting with the image of fireworks, with four types of production such as fireworks and gimmick fireworks. Enjoy the dynamic fireworks launching and the sparks flying. SKYTREE ROUND THEATER (R) “Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival from TOKYO SKYTREE (R)”
At “SKYTREE ROUND THEATER (R)” with 18 speakers by making the window glass of the Tenbo Deck 350 meters above the ground into a huge screen, they will screen the “Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival from TOKYO SKYTREE (R)”. Enjoy the realistic sound and images of fireworks along with the night view of Tokyo spreading out at your feet.

Fee: Free viewing * You need to pay admission to the observatory.
Sumida Aquarium Projection Mapping “Penguins Fireworks”
Enjoy a show “Penguins Fireworks” that projects fireworks images by projection mapping on the bottom of Japan’s largest indoor open penguins pool. Enjoy penguins and fireworks playing to the music underwater.
Dates: Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays between July 23 through August 29
Time: 6:30PM / 7:30PM (8 minutes each time) * The event may not occur when the penguins are not in good condition.

Konica Minolta Planetarium Sky in Tokyo Sky Tree Town (R) “Fireworks Welcome Dome”
Before the screening of each movie, a welcome fireworks video filling the planetarium dome and finally the message “Pray for a safe and secure future” will be projected.
In addition, the movie “Gift of Light ~ Wrapped in Starlight ~” features a powerful fireworks scene and the episode of launching fireworks with a wish to disperse the plague.
