The incredible digital art museum in Toyosu, Tokyo, teamLab Planets TOKYO, is about to get even more amazing! Get ready for a major expansion coming January 22, 2025. They’re adding a whole new area focused on interactive and educational experiences, making the museum 1.5 times larger. Here’s what you can look forward to:
Explore the Athletic Forest
Imagine a place where art and physical activity collide. That’s the Athletic Forest! This multi-dimensional space encourages you to move your body and engage with the art in a whole new way. teamLab’s founder, Toshiyuki Inoko, explains that it’s designed to help us think three-dimensionally and boost our creativity. Some of the highlights include:
- Rapidly Rotating Bouncing Spheres: Jump and bounce across a floor of spinning spheres!
- Multi Jumping Universe: A trampoline-like surface that lets you defy gravity with amazing jumps.
- Aerial Climbing through a Flock of Colored Birds: Climb through the air on a series of colorful bars, like an acrobatic bird!
- Balance Stepping Stones in the Invisible World: Test your balance on stones that change color and sound when you step on them.
Catch and Collect Extinct Forest
Explore a digital forest teeming with extinct creatures! Use your smartphone and the Catching and Collecting Forest app to discover, capture, and learn about these fascinating animals. It’s an interactive adventure that blends learning and fun!
Create and Collaborate in Future Park
Future Park is all about co-creation. Work with others to bring art to life! Draw, build, and play in this interactive space where your creations become part of the exhibit. Here are some of the activities you can enjoy:
- Sketch Umwelt World: Color in a creature, then watch it come to life and fly through a digital world!
- A Table where Little People Live: Interact with tiny digital people on a tabletop and see how they react to your touch.
- A Musical Wall where Little People Live: Create music and watch the little people dance and play along.
