Fruits in Japan are expensive
Fruits in Japan are expensive. One of the reasons behind this is that fruits were used as a present or gift to someone. When we visited our friends or family in a hospital, we bought some nice-looking fruits and gave them to them. And we still do. Based on these history, fruits in Japan were considered “luxury thing” and some of them are still expensive.
Been offering high-quality fruits since 1885
My uncle used to have a fruit parlor in Shinjuku, Tokyo. It was tucked in a very tiny space but busy with people who wanted to buy nice-looking fruits. And in the same area as his, there is a very popular and famous fruits cafe/shop called “Takano Fruit Parlor“. They opened in 1885. Since then, they have been providing top-quality, carefully-selected fruits made in Japan.

As you may know, Japanese restaurants are well known for their menu sample display. These look real but not. They are made of wax. When you get around in town, you will see more of these display.
This place is very popular. So remember you need to wait for a while.
Great presentation beyond belief
The presentation is superb! The price is high. Most of the parfait is over 1,200 yen.
For peach lovers, no word is necessary here. Indulge in sweet peach flavor.
They rotate menu frequently according to each season. When we went there in June, there was a Cherry mini parfait.
Those who want to eat different kinds of fruits at the same time, this is “Cream Anmitsu” which comes with soft serve and soy paste (Anko). It is served with the house-made syrup.
Lastly Japanese famous “Fruit Sandwich”. I grew up in Tokyo most of muy life. And the first time I had fruit sandwich was in my high school days. In the school kiosk, I started to see the sandwich on the shelf. At first I was thinking, “fruits sandwiched in bread?” But I was becoming to like it more and more.
Main restaurant is Shijuku and there are more locations: http://takano.jp/takano/en/store/
