Hotel New Otani Celebrates 10th Anniversary Of Their Pancake With Seasonal Flavor

Fluffy pancake comes with chestnut

Hotel New Otani will launch their “Hotel New Otani Special Pancake” finished with a taste of fall at coffee shop all-day dining “SATSUKI” at 3 locations (Tokyo, Makuhari, Osaka). The pancake has been very popular since 2010 and this year marks 10th anniversary of the pancake. It will be available through November 30.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of its appearance in 2010. As Japan has four seasons, they have used ingredients carefully selected by the chef pastry chef, such as melons, melons, mangoes, and chestnuts, and have continued to evolve while making improvements.

The theme of the fall 2020 version is “chestnut”! Carefully selected chestnuts boiled in astringent skin, yokan jelly, and marron macaroons are added to the side for a calm fall look.

The pancakes comes in 2 different textures: The chewy one that is a mixture of ricotta from Italy and the nutritious coffee skin “Cascara powder”, and aromatic one that is the hotel’s original millet “White Cereal” made up with foxtail millet, millet, and amaranth.

The pancakes, which are fluffy baked at low temperature for about 5 minutes on each side until the thickness is about 5 cm, are surprisingly smooth and have a gentle taste that melts in the mouth.

Soy milk cream “Soilebourg” using soybean-derived vegetable butter for topping. You can enjoy various taste changes by combining with 3 types of maple syrup with different strengths.
