Experience the Best Spring Rolls in Tachikawa
Spring rolls are a popular appetizer in Asian cuisine, and for good reason. These delicious bites of fresh ingredients wrapped in a delicate rice paper are a treat for the senses.
Have you ever tried good spring rolls in Tokyo? There is one place we highly recommend in Tokyo. It’s called “Harumaki New York“. I don’t know why they use “New York” but they’re always packed. And finally, we were able to eat there in March.
So, the difficult part is they don’t take reservations. Every time we went there, we couldn’t get in! Too busy.
What is Harumaki?
Harumaki means spring rolls in Japanese. The Galera Tachikawa food hall restaurant offers different kinds of spring rolls and is owned by the same owner as Gyoza no New York (again, New York).
We tried a lot
So, we started with Zasai( Zha cai) Tofu as an appetizer.
Spring rolls
Try their fusion spring rolls that combine classic ingredients with a modern twist, like their shrimp and Yuba spring rolls, which are wrapped in rice paper. OK, so I will show you what we tried here:
– Shrimp & Yuba (Tofu skin)
– Lamb & Mozzarella
– Mentaiko, Mochi & Cheese
– Asparagus & Bacon stick
– Shrimp & Bamboo shoot
– Clam & Spring cabbage
– Whitebait, Napa cabbage & Cheese
– Smoked salmon & Cream cheese summer roll
– Bibimbap summer roll
Skewers
Also, we tried meat-wrapped or non-wrapped skewers:
– Eringi mushroom
– Dried Tofu
– Organ meat (motsu)
– Eggplant
– Shiitake mushroom
*For skewers, you can choose a sauce either red spicy or herbal white. We tried only red spicy sauce this time. So next time we will try the white sauce.
Omg, as many people gave good reviews on Japanese review sites, their spring rolls and skewers are so tasty😍 You can tell from these pictures, right?
They go with my Umeshu (sour plum sour)!!
If you’re looking for something a little different, this is that place that will satisfy your taste buds. No matter which option you choose, their spring rolls are always made fresh and served hot.
They’re located in Galera Tachikawa on the north side of Tachikawa station. If you are in this area, don’t forget to check them out!
